During machining and surface treatment of metals, exhaust air streams become contaminated with acids and alkalis. These substances rapidly attack metallic components, and conventional fans soon reach their limits in such conditions.
HLU industrial plastic fans have been specifically developed for such applications: they convey corrosive gases reliably, safely and with high energy efficiency. This protects not only your personnel but also your equipment and production environment.

Industrial fans for biogas plants
The exhaust air in biogas plants typically contains methane (CH₄), carbon dioxide (CO₂), hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) and ammonia (NH₃). This mixture renders the exhaust air both corrosive and potentially explosive.
Our industrial plastic fans provide an optimal combination of chemical resistance with varying compositions and the required explosion protection for Ex Zones 1 and 2. HLU fans ensure safe and reliable operationin biogas plants.
Materials for industrial fans
Thermoplastic – fibre-reinforced plastic – plastic-coated steel
We manufacture our industrial fans using a variety of thermoplastics and fibre-reinforced composites, tailored to the specific medium, temperature and application. Whether PP, PPs, PPs-el, PE, PVC, FRP or CFRP: We select the appropriate material for every project to ensure high corrosion resistance, long lifetime and UV resistance.
In addition, steel impellers with special coating are available when particularly high strength must be combined with durable surface protection.
Energy-efficient design & powerful drives
Our industrial fans are designed for maximum energy efficiency.
Up to 81 per cent efficiency is achieved thanks to flow-optimised construction.
The drive uses state-of-the-art IE4 and IE5 motors, which can be combined with frequency converters as an option.
In this way we combine energy savings with flexible control and maximum operational reliability – a clear contribution to reducing operating costs and CO₂ emissions.
ATEX & safety of HLU industrial fans
In addition to corrosive media such as acids and alkalis, potentially explosive atmospheres also frequently occur in the chemical and process industries – for example due to solvents or flammable gases.
For these applications we supply ATEX-compliant industrial fans:
- electrically dissipative materials
- versions for Zone 1 and Zone 2
- documentation and design in accordance with the relevant standards
This ensures you receive the right solution – both for corrosive exhaust air streams and for potentially explosive atmospheres.
