Packed-bed columns
versatile solutions for absorption, desorption and gas cooling
Our packed-bed columns are robust and proven process units designed for the efficient purification, separation and conditioning of gas streams. They can be flexibly adapted to meet the specific requirements of your process.
Typical applications
✔ Absorption: Efficient removal of gaseous pollutants through liquid contact - ideal for acidic, alkaline or oxidative scrubbing processes.
✔ Desorption: Recovery of volatile substances from liquids by stripping with air or steam.
✔ Gas cooling: Direct cooling of process gases, for example to condense specific components. Integrated heat exchangers in the recirculation loop enable precise temperature control.
How does it work?
The gas enters the column from the bottom, while the scrubbing liquid is introduced from the top. A packed bed provides a large surface area for intensive mass and heat transfer. As the gas comes into contact with the liquid, pollutants can be absorbed, volatile components stripped out, or the gas stream selectively cooled, depending on the application.
For gas cooling and condensation processes, the circulating liquid can be temperature-controlled using integrated heat exchangers.
